A historical introduction to world religions from the Ancient Near East to modern times. The origin and history of monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam), of religious philosophies (Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism), and of polytheisms, both ancient (Greek, Roman) and modern (Hinduism) will be the subject of this course. For History majors and minors, this is designated as a pre-1700 course. (social science).
