Analysis of the consequences of human finitude (mortality, fallibility, ignorance) in an attempt to illustrate the meaning of tragedy as a lived experience. Discussion of the ways in which humans attempt to avoid the recognition of tragedy or attempt to make it bearable. Orientation will be accomplished through a study of the literature of tragedy.
